If you use ClaroMap as a guest (no account), your content is not sent to our servers — your work lives only in your browser's memory and is lost when you close the tab. The anonymous feature-use events described above may still be recorded.
Your mind maps and notes are stored to make them available across your sessions and devices. When you use an AI-powered feature — asking the Insight Assistant a question, auto-generating a note, converting a hand drawing, or parsing an uploaded image — the relevant content is sent to a third-party AI provider (see below) to produce that result. We don't use your content to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
We use a small number of service providers to run ClaroMap. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising.
You can let an AI assistant you already use work with your ClaroMap content through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This is off by default and only happens if you set it up yourself, in one of two ways: by generating a personal access token in Settings and giving it to the assistant, or by adding ClaroMap in an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude and approving access when you sign in to your ClaroMap account.
What a connected assistant can do. With your approval it can list your topics, read a topic's notes and connections, search your notes, create a new topic with notes, add notes to a topic, connect two notes, and rename a note or replace its content. It cannot delete anything and cannot reach any other user's content.
What is shared, and with whom. The assistant only receives the topics and notes it asks for when you give it a task, and ClaroMap only receives what the assistant sends to perform that task, such as the notes to create. We do not receive your conversation with the assistant, its memory of you, or anything else from your account with that provider. Content that ClaroMap returns to an assistant is handled by that assistant's provider (for example OpenAI for ChatGPT) under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours. We don't use this content to train any AI model.
What we store. The connection itself (your personal token, or the authorization you approved), and the time a personal token was last used. Anything an assistant creates or edits is stored as part of your content, like anything you write yourself.
Your control. You can regenerate or revoke a personal token at any time in Settings. For an assistant you connected by signing in, remove ClaroMap from that assistant's connected apps; to also end access from our side, email [email protected] from your account address and we will revoke it. Revoking access does not delete content the assistant already created — you can edit or delete that in ClaroMap like any other note.
Your private topics and notes are yours. Our staff do not browse them. Staff can open a topic only if you made it public, if you published it to the Gallery and it is being reviewed, or if someone reported it. Each time staff open a topic's notes or an account's details, we record it in an audit log. Our service providers (see above) process your content only to run ClaroMap, and our systems read it only to provide the features you use.
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in — that's it. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.
We keep your account and content until you ask us to delete it. See our data deletion instructions for how to request this.
Your data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access to your account requires your password or a linked OAuth sign-in.
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
